The crescent moon hung high in the sky as Tala ran barefoot through the forest, staring up at it every so often as it poked through the canopy of the trees that loomed high above. A grey wolf that she had befriended as a child, Meko, ran along beside her a few yards away. Adrenaline had been pumping through her veins all day long since she and some of the other scouts had come across a vampire in the pre-dawn hours that was apparently trying to spy on the wolves. Spies were always dealt with once Drisan gave his orders. This one, due to the circumstances, was sent to death in a slow and painful manner. He was torn apart limb by limb before being set on fire. And the entire time, Tala helped with the punishment and enjoyed every moment and screm. If only all leeches could be dealt with in such a way. Hurling herself over a large branch that had fallen in her way, Tala grinned as Meko did the same. Her bare and dirty feet kicked up leaves and twigs as she and her friend sprinted abnormally fast after a cat that they had come across. Naturally, cats were an annoyance to Tala and most of the other wolves and she never passed up a chance to scare one off or send it to the shadows. This one was a small, orange cat that smelled of rats and squirrels that had wondered a few yards too close to wolf territory and now it was going to pay with its life. The two neared the cat that was desperately trying to climb a tree to escape but it was too slow for Tala as she wrapped one of her slightly dirty hands around its neck and plucked it from the tree. Dangling it up in the air, she snickered at Meko and gave the cat a shake. "I'll let you have this one as long as I get the next. Deal?" With those words, she chucked the cat in the air and watched as Meko pounced on it as soon as it hit the ground. While her friend devoured the small animal, Tala swung slowly on a branch that was thankfully low enough for her to reach. "How many is that this week? Four? Five?" She spoke to Meko, who was too busy chowing down on the dead cat to give any sort of reply. "Maybe tomorrow we'll get another leech to make an example of," she added quickly with a little laugh as she dropped down from the branch and back onto the forest floor. "You finish up...I need a drink," she spoke again as she darted off toward a small stream that trickled a ten or so yards away. Once at the stream, Tala crouched down and stuck her hands in the water to rinse the dirt off her hands before she took a long drink. It was more than refreshing and once her thirst was quenched, she took a moment to splash a bit of the icy water on her dirt spotted face. It seemed at any moment of the day, she was dirty due to the fact that she was usually rolling around in dirt with the boys and chasing after cats through the wild. "Manners are overrated," she spoke quietly to herself as she dipped her long, messy braids into the water and squeezed them tight to get what dirt and gunk she could out of them.
