A bright shaft of the moon's light filtered down through the sky, coming to land on a stretch of white sand. The waves lapped gently at the blanket of white, smearing the small crystals farther and farther from their original resting place with every second that passed. It was hard to believe that living life forms could actually disturb this place of peace and beauty, but disturb it they did.
People came and walked the shores when the sun shone, removing any sense of peace and calm. Children laughed and shrieked in the waves, parents lounged on the beach and watched their kids, and teens either waded or swam in the waves or messed around in the sand. Things were far from calm, and noise seemed to be the center point of the area.
But then night would come, the people would leave, and the waves would take over. The night would be still, quiet. It was as if the beach had a split personality, and the quiet one came out at night, hiding from the world when the light touched the land.
Over the horizon walked a figure, clothed in the moonbeams themselves. They twisted and twined around each other to form a simple dress that covered her in the form of a strapless summer dress. Her blonde hair swept across her face with the small ocean breeze. She drew closer to the water, her bare feet leaving footprints behind her. Finally, she stopped, ankle deep in the water, standing, looking up at her moon. Her face was expressionless, and she just stood there, letting the night wash over her.
