Nataz stood in the shadows, the cave around her black. Being a goddess came in handy at times like these. She could quite easily hide out back here and wait for the next unlucky traveler to come through. This being the cave with all the magic crystals and pretty jewels, people came through quite a lot, so of course Nataz would occasionally come here to hinder the traveler unlucky enough to fall in her path. It was great entertainment to watch the poor fellow struggle to work out her riddle, hoping to be the one to collect her precious jewel.
Nataz smiled and fingered the pretty saphire embedded in the stone walls. She could easily work it loose, but no other could succeed in getting it out. It was, of course, one of the magic jewels, and Nataz had promised it to the first traveler that could answer her riddle. It was great fun, and to this day, no traveler had answered her ever changing riddle.
The darkness of the cave was quite comforting sometimes, but Nataz very severely missed her beautiful moon. That was the only problem with this cave, she couldn't see her precious jewel in the sky. Nataz only came to the cave occasionally for that reason, as she very sorely missed the moon when she was in the cave. But the weary travelers were oftentimes worth the trouble of being away from the sky and the view of her moon.
The smile on Nataz's face grew as she leaned against the cave wall and waiting for the traveler she was sure would come. She wondered what kind of person they would be, and if they would be up to taking the challenge of her riddle.

these secrets are walls that keep us alone Samael was cheating. He knew he was. Clearly, winning the heart of a woman wasn't always through shiny things. Did she like shiny things? He didn't really know. But what can he say? A pretty little thing shouldn't be so alone all the time- because then someone, like Samael could be a bad boy and just eat her up until there's nothing left. But it wasn't just to charm the maid- she just seemed sad, and seeing that he was being an errand boy for Pandora, he could stop by, get something that was loosened, and then maybe he could just slip and quickly get back to his message- and in no time he would be back home in the white castle, simply sleeping the day away like he liked to down on the holy day (and, naturally, every day, was a holy day).
With a sly grin, he slowed his horse before tying it to a a branch that was not far away from his sight. He had his sailor hands, where the knots all seem to twist and turn into a series of turns and loops- therefore, it would take a thief a while to undo it- and it would give him enough time to use his magic.
Sprinting into the cave, he looked around, his fingers trying out a few gems with caution. He only wanted one, he didn't need a lot. But he had to be quick about it.

Nataz looked up when she heard someone enter the cave. She let out a small, quiet laugh and and stepped away from the wall. Her pale dress shimmered as she moved, as if it was made of moonbeams and they were shifting with her movements. Which, of course, it was. That was just one of the perks of being the moon goddess, she could have the prettiest dresses around, rivaled only by Lona.
Nataz walked slowly towards the front of the cave, a man slowly coming into view. A sorcerer, of course. Nataz wondered what he wanted with the jewels, then smiled and decided it didn't matter. No sorcerer would pass of her gem. This would be perfect. Nataz wondered how good this sorcerer was at riddles, and hoped she would get some fun out of him.
Nataz stepped out of the shadows, her dress slightly glowing. She didn't say anything, just stood there as the sorcerer tried to unlodge one of the stones. She waited for him to notice her standing there.

these secrets are walls that keep us alone Samael tapped at a red one protruding from the cave wall, his maple brown eyes staring at it intently. Why, oh why was he so cheap that he didn't feel like buying one, even though it would be much easier, after all, he had to leave.. like.. now.
Hearing a rustle, he jumped and turned around, quick fingers moving to his blade before his eyes landed on a heavenly figure. What?! It couldn't possibly be. His lips parted and closed as he searched for words. It would have been silly for him to say that the Goddess was looking for him, but nevertheless, he was a great event to run into one, he had never really worshipped any, so he hoped she wasn't there to beat him senseless until he forgot his own name. How useful would be to Panthea if he didn't remember that he was working for her in the first place? It would be horrible to be in her good graces.
'T-the goddess of the moon,' he stuttered before grasping half of his wits and a handful of common sense before bowing down under her grace and presence. 'Please,' he murmured breathlessly. 'Forgive me for that slow reaction, least to say, it's rare to run into someone who marvelous as you are.'

Nataz smiled. She knew he didn't worship anyone, it was appearent from the way he acted. This might be a little bit more fun then she had thought. He looked in a hurry though, so she didn't know if he would be willing to stay long enough to hear her out. But might as well give it a try.
"I thank you for that complement, sorcerer. You seem to be looking for a jewel, and if you wish for a magic one, I could lead you in the right direction if you would answer me one simple little riddle. Would you care to give it a try, sorcerer?" Nataz asked. Her voice was quiet, soft, like a summer breeze floating through the trees. It was the rustle of silk between soft fingers. Her voice was no more than a whisper, yet it carried so easily through the air.

these secrets are walls that keep us alone Samael blinked and looked up curiously. A magical jewel to charm his way into the lady's good graces? Should he really? This 'simple riddle' was told by the Goddess of riddles herself. That was like saying he had dark hair- obviously it was dark, since he has raven colored hair! But what should he do? It seemed that it was simple enough, she was a kind Goddess, she wouldn't butcher him into bits if he got it wrong.
Bowing purely out of respect, he nodded. 'I can try, no doubt I won't succeed, but it's the thought that counts no? Will I succeed with the thought of trying alone?' he asked, trying to sound somewhat clever, he was good with words, oh yes he was. But with riddles? He would have more luck carving a sculpture of her from a boulder with a spoon. But he was Samael Ash! He would love a challenge.
'Ready when you are,' he said with a twist of his lips.

Nataz smiled. He was good with words, maybe he would have a chance at being the first to answer her riddle. She took a second to think about what riddle she should do, and when she finally chose one, a smile lit up her lips, a twinkle entering her eyes. Let's see if the sorcerer can answer me this simple little riddle. "The thought is nice, and always counts for something," Nataz said, her smile growing into more of a crooked grin at this point. "But it takes more than that to answer a riddle correctly, sorcerer. A riddle can be a tricky thing, saying one thing but meaning another. Now, let us see if you can answer me this: We are little creatures; all of us have different features. one of us in glass is set, one of us you’ll find in jet. another you may see in tin, and the fourth is boxed within. if the fifth you should pursue, it can never fly from you. what are we? "Answer me this, and the jewel is yours, sorcerer. Are you up to being the first to ever answer my riddle?" Nataz asked. The riddle was a simple thing, quite easy if thought about carefully. Now was the time to see if this sorcerer was clever enough to answer the riddle of the Goddess of Prophecies.

these secrets are walls that keep us alone Samael stared for a moment. thinking about her words carefully before repeating it for clarification. From what he could pick from it- its more then one thing, maybe even a few different types of it. one of us in glass is set, one of us you’ll find in jet. What could be in set and jet? In fact, what was a jet? Flowers? Food? But then what's the silliness in the next line? another you may see in tin, and the fourth is boxed within. Naturally there are only two types of riddles, one is physically, maybe an item that is physically in a glass and tin container- but then boxed within what? A can made of silver? If it's silver, would Pandora use it? if the fifth you should pursue, it can never fly from you.. Actually, the only thing he keeps on him at all times that isn't intact to his body is pants. Sometimes he was shirtless, but most of the time he wore pants. Was the answer pants.. because pants weren't made to glass.
He frowned and crossed his arms before he held out his forearms and started to write the word on his skin in invisible ink. When the possible answer finally dawned on him, he realized how stupid he looked. He looked at her apologetically, as if completely sorry for wasting her time on his foolishness.
'Is it a vowel? Hidden between the forms of glass and tin?' he asked her, uncertainly. He wasn't the smartest, but he did surprise a few people. Actually, it was more of a shot in the dark since he had no experiences with riddles. He only knew a few himself.

Nataz smiled. Someone had finally answered her riddle. That was a miracle. Nataz had been searching for that one person who could solve her riddles for centuries, and most couldn't even answer the most simple of riddles. It was because they did not take the time to think about it like this young sorcerer did.
"A vowel would be the answer to my riddle. Congratulations, sorcerer, you are the first to ever answer my riddle. The jewel is yours," Nataz said, her voice light, her dress shining brightly with the excitement she felt at finding someone who could correctly answer her riddles. She placed her hand against the cave wall beside her, dirt started crumbling under her perfectly white hands, and soon, a small, blue saphire was resting in her hands. She smiled, a twinkle in her eyes, as she held the saphire out for the sorcerer.

these secrets are walls that keep us alone Samael bit his lip, hesitating to touch it for a moment, as if such thing could burn and scorch his traitorous hands. However after a pensive moment, he took a step forward and reached out slowly, amazed. He had never really received a gift before- maybe he would treasure it and pass it down to his kids (if he had any). His fingers wrapped around the gem and lifted it from her hands, pulling it closer to inspection, his eyes shining, glinting off the jewel with dumbfounded amazement.
'Could a child receive such an unworthy gift,' he murmured quietly to himself before pulling it to his chest and giving her a bow. 'I thank you,' he said with a sly twist of his lips. He pulled his bag around and slipped it inside, not before wrapping it in a worn blanket before he closed it again, turning back to the fair goddess.
'I pray you to tell, what brings you here?' he implored, curious. It wasn't everyday that a god or goddess just happens to be roaming the land, are they? However, it would make sense, she can only survive through others worshiping her, perhaps she was out for a display of followers.

"I come here ofter, sorcerer. It is fun to see the different reactions I get to my wonderful little riddles, and sometimes there's a prophecy that's urgent enough that my priestess' cannot get them in time, so I must go myself. This cave is one of my favorite places to go, seeing as many come through here, and most of them would jump at a chance to get one of the precious magic gems. I just give them a push in the right direction," Nataz said with a smile. This young sorcerer was quite the gentleman. The world could use more like him. Even though Nataz knew the truth about him, kind of hard not to when you saw most of what went on in the world, she didn't say anything about it. He was a nice guy, maybe one day he would find something to put him back on the right track.
