You’re the only one who matters, and the only one for me, Now I’m lonelier than ever only your love can save me. I’ve wanted this forever, but I want you all for me, You can put me back together, only your love can save me---------------------------------------------------------------- Boots swung back and forth in the summer breeze as fine, curled up shavings of wood fell to the ground below. Lailah had never left her home with no intention of returning and yet there she sat on the ledge thinning out wood preparing the end to hold an arrowhead. Her conscience told her that it was wrong to leave without word or notice but she wasn't in a fit state to care much anymore. None of them had come to her, none of them cared enough to check in, so why should she? She loved her family very much but it seemed that when it came down to it, when she needed them most of all, they weren't around. They knew nothing of how she'd been, nothing of the pain she'd had to endured, the only person that did was her closest and dearest friend Eva. Water was thicker than blood in the end. Brushing a few shavings off her lap she glanced briefly at the horse stood waiting for her "not long now, not long at all, can leave and go some place else" somewhere that wasn't filled with bittersweet memories and reminders of something so foolish. The evening was coming to a close and soon the night would set in, the men would return from a day's hunt and she'd slip off into the darkness like a thief in the night. Truthfully, she hadn't planned her leaving quite as well as she'd have liked but staying there wasn't an option anymore. All she needed was the horse, the beautiful, loyal unnamed horse and a few provisions that could last her until she was far enough away from her wooded homeland to hunt without running into someone she knew. They'd tell her to return, of course, she didn't doubt that after all she was a child, in their eyes, and still not ready to venture away from her home. What did they know? Nothing. Goodbye was just a silly little word it might have signified an ending to something but it didn't stop you thinking and feeling or wondering and hoping. The forest didn't help fill her head with something else to think about just served as a bitter after pill to the sweetness it once provided. Stabbing the blade into the wood beside her she held the arrow up to eye level to observe her work. It wasn't perfect but it would do and it found itself nestled between more arrows. They weren't intended for violence just hunting but if she needed to use them for something else they'd be there. Mossy eyes looked back down at her horse "no going back now, all done, packed up and ready with no place to go" maybe she'd return when things weren't so fresh but her time was limitless. Securing the cloak around her shoulders she inhaled the heavy perfume of the forest "I'll miss this will you miss it too?" The horse snorted softly in reply and knocked lightly at her as she took hold of the reigns. She'd spare him a gallop through the trees and walk for a while. Taking in the scents and sounds of her home before she broke free of the trees into the open land. Tossing her hair back she walked with light steps "never thought I'd leave" she spoke freely to her four legged companion "but can't stay not now. Can't watch trees shrivel up because of me, can't be miserable with other people, can't be false. False like snakies in the grass. Trick you, bite you, hiss lies in your ears, they do" her face screwed up into a scowl. Ezeal wasn't quite like a snake more like a cheap bouquet; stunning to look at but under it all he was littered with thorns ready and eagerly awaiting a moment to meet her hand and prick her. And boy had he pricked her. Wrapping the leather strap tighter around her hand she guided the horse with a sure footed walk "we'll find some place nice to go" reassuring both herself and her company she flashed an almost smile but it was hard to be confident when really you had no clue. An alabaster hand swept over the tips of scrubs and wild flowers that grew each one tickling her palm "Thatulo will understand but we'll never be alone. He sees far beyond the forest; he will guide us and protect us" that she was sure of. Lailah had always been in her Gods favour - her mother told her often - and when it came down to it he'd always be the last one by her side in times of strife. Stopping to look around one last time she pulled herself up onto the horse's back "and if he doesn't we have each other" that she smiled at as she gave him a gentle little pat. Looking around again with a sigh she pinched her thighs together signaling for the horse to carry on and take her away from her beloved forest. "Lay down your head and I'll sing you a lullaby back to the years of loo-li,lai-ley." tag: closed words: enough by eliza @ shadowplay |
