Narccissa wondered silently around the castle grounds. She was supposed to leave soon to gather more information for Pandora, but she didn't want to leave just yet. The grounds here were beautiful, they gave her a sense of belonging, as if there might really be someone in the world who wanted her to stay.
Narccissa sighed, dropping to her knees beside a patch of pink roses. Memories flooded through her mind, bringing tears to her eyes. As they fell, they left crystal trails down her cheeks. The memories continued to come, leaving her defenseless as she knelt on the ground. Her arms were wrapped around her middle as if she was trying to hold everything back.
The screams grew as she came closer and closer to her house. The light grew brighter, and as she topped the last hill, Nicca saw the cause of it all.
Her beautiful house was on fire, and it was obvious that her family was still inside. Their screams rose in the air, and Nicca could see the men standing around outside laughing as her family burned to death. She could see Panthea's symbol on their uniforms. Why had Panthea targeted her family? What would she get out of hurting her family?
Nicca had sat on that hill for hours, crying her eyes out. She couldn't do anything, her family was dead. And with their death, she lost everything she had ever wanted.
After that she had gone to Pandora. Pandora had been great, and Nicca had been accepted to gather information for her. It wasn't the greatest job, but it was her way of getting back at the people who had killed her family.
Oh, how many times Nicca had thought about how easy it would be to end her life. She could give it all up, get away from everything. And Nicca didn't think there was anyone who would really care if she was gone. So why did she stay? Why was it so hard to just say goodbye? Why could she not just give it all up? Why could she not just say farewell forever, once and for all.
