Since Tilla was a child, she had been in and out of the mountains and by now, she knew them like the back of her hand. There were still dangers to be fearful of, mainly the trolls that liked to stalk the mountain side waiting for some poor soul to come along. But Tilla knew where they lingered and took the other paths to avoid them at all costs. With Elsa also watching over her, she managed to make it over to the other side within three days unscathed by anything other than a nick on her hand from a jagged rock. She was now in the realm of the Elves and Fairies. The forest was massive but relatively safe for all who passed through as long as you knew what to eat and when to eat it. That was indeed the reason Tilla ventured so far from home. With Spring finally coming around, there was an array of goodies waiting to be brought back to her family. The food from the forest was always the best, almost as if the magic of the inhabitants leaked inside the delicious fruit and vegetables. Despite being in the forest a few times a year, coming upon elves and fairies rarely happened. They were the kind of creatures that would only be seen if they wanted to be. In all her life, Tilla had only met one elf, and it was only for a few short moments. Tilla moved through the forest, her cloak still around her shoulders despite the weather being quite fair inside the trees. She spotted a bush of berries though she knew better than to attempt to eat them. The reddish-pink berries looked delicious, though their spiny leaves gave them away as being deadly. One or two of the little things could put a grown man to bed for weeks while any more would kill someone. She passed on the berries and went on deeper into the forest. For hours, she walked, picking and gathering a few things and shoving them down into the large pack that hung from her waist. She knew the part of the forest near the mountains well, though she was now in territory that she wasn't all that familiar with. She couldn't recall her surroundings, clearly a sign that she had ventured a little too far for her liking. Her water bladder was getting low, dangerously low. If she didn't fill up soon, dehydration could quickly settle in. She stopped and looked around, her fingers idly playing with the numerous pieces of bright jewelry that she wore. People from the mountains didn't exactly wear a lot of bright colors when it came to clothing, though Tilla's handmade jewelry was where she brought her colors in. The hunter let her eyes wonder before she took off to the West, hoping that she'd eventually stumble upon a river or stream of some sort to refill. Hours passed. The sun was slowly moving across the sky and Tilla was growing more than tired. Her legs ached, her mouth was dry, and her water had been drained to the point that there wasn't a drop left at the bottom of her bladder. In was not a good situation to be in for the young woman though just as she was about to give up and rest for the night, she heard a splash. Her heart felt as if it rose to her chest as she picked up her pace, ignoring the aching pains in her legs as she broke through a clearing and spotted a massive lake. For a moment, she thought she was dreaming but as she neared the lake and bent down to touch the water, she knew it was real. The water was clear, a rare thing for lakes but she had to remind herself that she was, after all, in a magical land. Quickly, she dunked her water bladder into the lake, watching it fill up before she put the cap on it and tucked it away. "Thank the Gods," she mumbled to herself, before scooping some of the water into her hands to drink.[/style] [style=font-family:georgia; font-size:8px; color:#dddddd; text-align:center;]created by shiki @ ote[/style] |
