( TO ME YOU'LL BE FOREVER SACRED ) { you hand above, like a dove, over me } Nina pursed her lips, a small smile breaking through her calm and collected composure as she looked up at the night sky, leaning back against the trunk of the tree as she rested. She had just finished training and was just enjoying the night as it slowly rolled in. It was beautiful, the sun was just setting and the colors exploded into a canvas of colors before darkening into the faded black. Stars scattered the horizon, and she out a light sigh, it's been a long time since she was able to see the sun set again. It used to be that she had all the time in the world to sit back and enjoy the day as they passed, but no- war tore though the land, and she felt the need to practice every moment of the day encase the war was brought to their front doorstop. The idea seemed a little far fetched at the moment, but one should take precaution anyways. Then again- the logic of being neutral was also ridiculous. It was a logic that was beyond her. Who knows what the crazy 'queen' would do if she ruled the land.
Nina shuddered at the thought.
The forest was rough, roots protruded from the ground in knots and arcs, one of them, the one she was currently occupying was thick, enough to fit her body without her having to keep herself up, she was using the tree behind her as a backrest as she propped her let up on the root, her arm resting on her kneecap. She let go of the hilt of her sword after she planted the blade firmly on the ground.
She shuddered lightly at the wind before turning back to the sky lightly, yearning for some company.

Aldruak was out in the forest, he was often found out here if not in the castle or meditating. The talk of war and conflict that was happening out side of this lovely forest and his home worried the elf. There wasn’t much stopping anyone from coming to ask for their help, or attack to make them join. A frown was on his face as he walked quietly though the calm forest, the sun was setting and he was enjoying the quite of it. Sunsets and sun rises were his favourite times of the day, the world just seemed more peaceful at these times. The brunettes fingers played a little with the bow he held, it was not his prize bow, that sat at home.
His eyes then fell on a set of blond hair, who else was in the forest, fairy, elf, he was not sure. He moved now quietly, not wanting to disturb them, he didn’t fear that it might be someone who was willing to bring him harm. A smile came to his lips when he saw who it was, Nina, his mothers advisor, a young elf with promise.
He walked up the large root and looked down at her a playful smile on his lips as he stretched up to grab a low branch and pull him self up onto it. “Hello” He said since he was no longer being quite and him climbing the tree was not a quite act when you had the hearing of an elf. Aldruak looked down at her, “lovely sun set is it not?”

( TO ME YOU'LL BE FOREVER SACRED ) { you hand above, like a dove, over me } Hearing the quiet rustle of the leaves as another pretense entered, Nina reached out, her fingers curling over the hilt of the sword once more, her head turned in the direction of the newcomer, as always, expecting the worse. She tilted her head to the side lightly as they scaled the tree behind, a familiar voice calling out to her. Aldruak, she remembered. Oh no- not the Queen's son. She was always so clumsy and never at her best when she was around him. It was probably intimidation, maybe paranoia. Paranoia of something, like getting on trouble or doing something wrong. Or so she told herself (and she told herself a lot of things- she's rather surprised that she isn't considered a schizophrenic yet). Either way, she pushed her feelings aside as she snapped her head up quickly, her hand dropping to her lap as she looked up at the Prince. A smile playing on her lips as he addressed her. What was he doing out here at this time?
"It is, your Highness," she said respectfully, before looking back at the sky, thanking whatever fate that took pity on her and had not left her a stuttering mess on the ground. Then again- they never really had spoken before, so she didn't know what the right thing to say to him was. Instead, she remained quiet, straightening herself under his gazes consciously.

Those who expected the worst, usually got it. Aldruak was not sure if he had read that some where or his father told him it. Some times not expecting anything was the best way to go, then you are neither surprised or disappointed in how things work out, just content with the world its self. He watched the blond head below him, she was quite the interesting person, she at times seemed to elegant and careful, but as soon as she knew he was around it was like a switch, she just became clumsy. Aldruak had a habit of watching people, things, situations, it was a way of learning about someone or something in their most vulnerable state. People put on masks when around other people it seems. Though Nina, she was just interesting, he saw no mask, in fact she found her cute, with her little clumsy ways at times.
“Highness, to formal, we are in a place where formality is not needed, just you and me, the animals and the sky, just call me Aldruak.” The brunette elf said still looking down at her. “Informality makes people more comfortable don’t you agree?” A playful smile came to Aldruak’s face when he said that almost hanging up side down. His mother at times always thought the boy should have been born a monkey with how he loved to climb all over everything. He frowned a little when he noticed she was going to be quite, so it was up to him to continue the conversation. He grabbed the branch and shifted so he could stand once more on the root, getting down to her level. “So, how are you this find evening Nina?” Aldruak asked sitting down letting a leg hang close to her as he brought the other to his chest wrapping an arm to keep it there.

( TO ME YOU'LL BE FOREVER SACRED ) { you hand above, like a dove, over me } Nina looked at him, blinking a few times. He seemed so down to earth compared to everyone else of the court. They expected her to greet them if she saw them, to call them by their full names, and some treated her like she was a child. Though- yes- she was the youngest, but did age matter? Wasn't it experience that did? "I- ah.. yes, your high-" she stopped cutting of her words and blushing furiously as she cleaned up her slip. "Yes Aldruak," she corrected, inwardly wincing. How is that she acted so? No one had that affect on her, just him, and worst yet- she have never spoke to him long enough to hold something against him- nor he with her. Why did it have to be so difficult to have the same composure as she did in front of the others?
She leaned forward about to answer him when her leg slipped on the root, her fingers quickly reaching out to grab the bark before she fell on her face. If possible- she blushed a little more.. a lot more. "Ah-!" she steadied herself, both legs just in front of her and her hands moving to fold themselves in her lap. Clumsy fool, she scolded herself, shaking her head.
When he started up the conversation, she took a deep breath, willing her luck not to go any worse then it is at the moment, before looking at him, a small, sheepish smile on her face. Elves usually are graceful creatures. She's starting to question her species at the moment. "I'm having a wonderful evening," she replied, her eyes shifting to her leg before looking at the sky. "And you? I hope the day goes to your liking..." she said, readying to call him by his title once more before settling on just letting the question hang.

If Aldruak was in the court he would rather keep things formal, but they were not in the court, they were just two elves out in the forest why not be treated as equals. That and Aldruak felt that it made things easier on others, when he was on their level. He could not help but smile at her as she stopped her self from calling him highness once more. But it seemed even as Aldruak tried to make things more informal she still seemed a little awkward, he kind of liked it, it was cute, she was cute, even with that blush.
When he noticed her slip he reached out to grab her, even when she caught her self. His face was inches close to hers and a small hint of a blush came to his cheeks before he sat back and smiled a little though there was concern on his face. “You alright?” He asked. Aldruak’s head tilted a little as he looked her over, scraping your legs up on bark was always painful, he remembered from the times she slipped and hut him self.
Elves were graceful creatures but even graceful creatures tended to slip and fall, there was always a hit of bad luck around, they just did not slip up as much as others like humans, they seemed the less graceful of the lot, other then trolls and other beast. “That’s good, better to enjoy these peaceful nights as they last.” His words were a little for looming there was talk of war, and he had a feeling the elves were going to be brought into it at some time. “It is, lovely weather, nice night, I do so enjoy sun sets, the colors, well sun sets and sun rise, makes the sky so alive.” His words he felt a little cheesy, he wondered where this came from, normally he is more sure of the words never wanting to take them back. He looked to Nina, “So why are you out here?”

( TO ME YOU'LL BE FOREVER SACRED ) { you hand above, like a dove, over me } For a second, all that was in Nina's head was the closeness of his face to hers. All she could see was him, his face looking at her with genuine concern; all she could feel was his fingers wrapped around her arms as he tried to keep her from slipping, despite the fact that she had already caught her bearings. If he hadn't touched her or prevented her from falling flat, she could have blow off the move and pretend like it was something that she did on purpose, maybe he would spare her the humiliation and just not comment of the sheer idiocy of being so clumsy. She was always fluent in her movements, so accidents were rare, which meant that it was more noticeable coming from her. But no- he caught her, having witness her slip and taken actions of see if she was alright. It was embarrassing, to have him watch her as she messed up. It was a weakness, and she didn't like feeling weak. Give her a sword and arrow and she would be willing to show them what she had, then put the Prince in front of her with a sword and somehow she just might hit herself with the hilt. She just wanted to brush him off and curl up and wallow in misery.
'Y-yes,' she stuttered, only gathering herself when he let go of her. Her mind started to stop spinning, finally being able to grasp reality when he pulled away from her. Her skin burned at his touch and now it seemed frozen without it. She shook her head, telling herself to get it together.
She looked at up him when she spoke again. Taking in his words as she looked over at the sunset. He was right- too right, and she wanted to seem smart and have an input in this conversation before he could think any less of her. 'It is one of a kind, the sunset, how rare it is to see a peaceful one- times like these- I makes me think about what we have now,' she murmured after taking a deep breath. Soon, it was easy to know that a talk about war and life is something that deeply was rooted into her beliefs. 'I guess friends, family, strangers. This is the time to bring them together and enjoy their presence before they are gone,' her lips curled into a relaxed smile, remembering her family as she spoke, forgetting that he was beside her.
'... Because war tears people apart, what we have now, can be gone tomorrow...' she looked down, her fingers running over her wrist as she spoke. 'This is the time- he have to cry too many tears, laugh too many times, and smile more then it is needed. Every sixty seconds we spend unhappy, is a minute of happiness that we will lose,' she said, looking up at his face, the smile fading. What was she, a poet? It was a side of her that rarely do people get to see, and she looked down, feeling a little miffed she said those words out loud.

Aldruak was not sure that his actions would affect her, his basic concern was her safety. Aldruak though was not the brightest when it came to other people and how they feel. He often was told this by his father, that he needed to read people better. Just a kill he lacked. But he had a feeling he did something wrong that he over stepped a line and for that he with drew a little looking at the bark under him self and nodded. “That’s good, that you are ok.” Now it was his turn to be a little awkward unsure of him self and his actions to her. He looked up at her though the messy bangs he had and smiled a little. She was still cute with that bit of a stutter. Aldruak was more interested in other races then his own just because they were different, Nina perked this interest in him with how more human she could be at times.
The prince shifted in his spot he could hardly sit still for too long and looked out at the sunset. He listened to her, she was quite wise for someone of her age. It caused him to smile a little but then sigh at the bit of a dark turn her words had. War, it was coming, places were already attacked and he felt that he too would join it. “Your right, it is a time to reflect on the good times, the peace we still have, because right now this is the sunset to the darkness that will come, wars, destruction, we will need to be strong to see the dawn once more.” Metaphors, bit of his own poet in him, a style from her in a way. “Also times like this you should throw caution to the wind, go for things you normally won’t go after.” He figured the bow he had to his side. “Because you don’t know how things will turn out so it is best to live life to its fullest before things go dark.”
He stood now putting the bow away and reaching for a Branch as he looked down at Nina. “Name one thing you want to do most in this world.” His smile became a little playful, what was the prince up too right now. What Aldruak was up to was to make today a little better, maybe help Nina reach a goal before war was declared. “I want to know if I can help you reach it.”

( TO ME YOU'LL BE FOREVER SACRED ) { you hand above, like a dove, over me } Nina smiled and looked up at him. 'Yes. I agree,' she said lightly before looking at the sky once more. She didn't know he was so poetic, he seemed more like the carefree elf that just wanted to live in the moment- words meant nothing to him, or so she thought. 'It's never too late- but we won't walk on the dark road for long- if there's darkness, there's always light, right? It's just if we can hold on for that long,' she said with a sigh. For all of her fallen comrades, and those families who lost their loved one because of the war- she tried to reach out to them, paying and donating food for their dark times. She hoped it would end soon. She knew it was going to end, whichever side won- but what is the outcome? How long will it be before Rendoria can return to its former glory?
She glanced up at him, flushing slightly. 'I-What I want can't be done before the war, it comes in its own time I guess...' she didn't say it out loud, not wanting him to think of her as a silly dreamer who wrote sappy stories about love; but still, what better would it be to walk down this road with someone by her side? Forever? She'd walk until the path is gone if it meant that. But once again- she wasn't going to say that to him. That was the last thing she needed though, and it certainly should be the last thing on her mind. Why would anyone think about love when they are going through war, yes people do think about their loved one before battle- but she isn't a solider, she should be focused on making sure that the Elves are safe.
She looked back up at him with a smile before smoothly sliding off the root she was on, standing in front of him as she sheathed her blade at her side. 'Though- before the war starts- I want to get to know you, anyone really. I want to meet people I never would have dreamed to talk to before, I want to admit things that I never would mention out loud before, I want to, for once, just be carefree and just think about myself and my friends- rather then the people...' she sounded a little more...childish then she expected. 'At least for the sunset- I want to enjoy peace while it's on my side,' she admitted, looking at the ground for a moment before her oceanic eyes met his brown ones. Honestly, they had so much depth that she could just get lost- and not in a romantic way either.
...and maybe get a drink, she mused. She had been working all day and she was a little worn, but she didn't feel like going back into town- so many people knew who she was, and some didn't like her. She didn't like it when someone hated her for what she believed in. She turned to him. 'Will you walk with me, A-Aldruak? If I tell you want I really want from this life, I expect a return answer too,' she informed him, slipping her words again. His name was so foreign on her tongue, it took her a while to get used to his request.

Aldruak was normally carefree but the war was always something that troubled him. But being an elf and being as old as he was even if he was not old compared to his siblings he had grown deep with in subjects becoming poetic when the time suited him, it was just rare and Nina was one of few who got to see it. The Elvin prince smiled at her after she spoke she was right. “Just like how Dawn breaks night isn’t it.” He liked being hopeful, with out hope what was left. He did wish the war would never come to the Enchanted Forest, His parents would only join the war when attacked as would the Fairies, but would that be too late by then. He often thought about going to the land of light and joining with out their consent, a few more hands never hurt anyone.
Aldruak was looking down at her, and pale skin showed blushes easily, it caused him to smile a little more. He was more mysterious then other elves a brat in a way to his parents, but it was who he was and often the means justified the trouble he ended up in. His head tilted slight at her words but he remained quite. What could it be that she wanted, ‘in its own time” what could she have meant, no use pushing it, he did not want to seem nosy even if he was curious. “Alright then.” he said accepting the answer she gave. It made him think about what he himself wanted out of life, he was over five hundred years old and not married much to his mothers distaste. Aldruak just never fell in love before.
The Prince watched her movements smiling him self, her next words were sweet, something he was not use to hearing, she wanted to get to know him. His smile became a little shy as he looked at the root and not her. In a way they had the same goal, get to know people, not be robbed by a few needed experiences in life. Aldruak liked her youth, her hopefulness her dreams, to come out of her shell a little before it becomes habit. “I think that is noble.” He moved again climbing down instead of up. “And I will like to get to know you as well.” He stood across from her fixing his clothing a little. “Doesn’t everyone want to come out of their shell a little more.” He smiled more confidently to her this time, that was when he noticed it, she has the loveliest eyes.
“I will walk with you, and I am not all that sure what I want with life.” He began to walk down the path. “In ways what you want, to come out of my own shell, become who I want to be instead of sticking to who I am out of fear.” Aldruak mused a little on it more. “See places. People. Travel. Try new foods, befriend new people explore, leave the comforts of home and live a little, become a regular person and not a prince.” A chuckle came from the brunette. “Love and be loved back.” He felt it was a little to girly of him self, something one of his sisters would say, but it was true, and he didn’t need to hide it from Nina. “Want a drink or food when back in town?” He asked, Aldruak knew what it was like to have people just know who you were, but he was a Prince, people acted different around him to begin with, why he liked this more casual conversation with Nina.

( TO ME YOU'LL BE FOREVER SACRED ) { you hand above, like a dove, over me } Fingers clasp over the hilt, she followed him, the free hand smoothing over her tunic and her dusting off the dirt on the fabric before she followed him, walking at their pace, the pace they wanted to walk in. No one was there to tell them anything, and she loved this moment, where she could be a little free and herself, she didn't have to hold back, and surely, he would appreciate what she had to say, rather then sneer at her biased words because she was the youngest. To her, age isn't what made someone wise-it's experience. And coming from her family roots, she didn't sleep on the comfy mattress as they did, she saw war, she witnessed Death, and more then anything, she wanted to make a difference. She wanted to feel important. That was worth more then anything she could gain with her selfishness. And she wondered if he saw that in her. She had big dreams, nothing material, most of them didn't involve her at all. And unlike hope, she strive for it.
But when he asked her what she wanted, she didn't know. What to say? She wanted many things, but what did she truly desire, love was one of them, before she thought of it so confidently- was it really what she wanted? She was conflicted. She didn't know. Looking at him, she smiled slightly. "You have.. places to travel... things to do.. sites to see..and people to love, huh?" she repeated summarizing it as she heard it. Maybe it wasn't someone specific that she wanted, like love, maybe it was broader, like happiness; but didn't love come from happiness, who has ever been in love, and not happy? She titled her head to the side. "I would like that too," she said with a laugh. ".. though.. I'm looking to be loved- rather then someone to love," she said thoughtfully. It seemed he didn't hold back on mentioning it as she did, so she might as well be fair too, right?
"To be honest- I have never really given it much thought," she said pensively, looking at the sky before glancing at him. She never would have thought she would be speaking so casually with him, and quickly, she bent her head and inspected the ground as she felt her cheeks grow warm- again. She bit her lip, thinking about it. "Things has been in the way, but what I want isn't what I need, so I figured, why think about wanting something, unless you can achieve it... but if it comes true, then it would no longer be wanting, is it?" she murmured, probably confusing him in the process. It was simple, wanting is an act that people tend to do when they can't get it, right? Why think about something so.. trifle when there are things that need to be done- war is something that people should be thinking about constantly, not love. She would do nothing but bring herself down at the thought of it.
Suddenly stopping, she bit her lip and looked at him. She was rambling, wasn't she? "I-I-something to eat and drink- that would be lovely," she managed, her thoughts jumping from one idea to another, and she couldn't seem to control her voice when she needed to. Really, she was surprised he was still around her- the way she was acting around him. They continued to walk, and she took a deep breath, willing to try to be a normal, graceful elf.

Aldruak would like to hear what she had to say, he didn’t much care for age, or rank, people were people and he felt he could learn from anyone. People were different diverse, came from all kinds of backgrounds and the different views on life were always interesting to hear. Unlike some royalty he felt that he was only as good as the people of his country, like a chain was only as strong as the weakest link. Nina to him was a breath of fresh air, interesting and easy to talk to. Her company was quickly growing on him. Aldruak too was a dreamer, wanting more from life and willing to get his own hands dirty to work to get them. Out side the forest he was no different then any other elf, all you needed was to drop the last name and no one was wiser.
Aldruak smiled a little, he shock his head, it sounded much different when she repeated it back. “Yes” He said a small laugh of his own. He perked up when she said she wanted it to. His smile grew a little as he listened. “To be loved is a good thing to, but I would like to know that I can give my heart fully to someone.” Aldruak knew what it was like to be loved, to have family love you, but to know that he could love someone out side of his family was a goal he set for him self. Something he needed to step out of his comfort zone and let happen. “And I am sure someone will love you some day.” Sure he did not know her that well, but she seemed like a nice girl, and she had goals in life.
As they walked along the path, as he listened to her, he nodded and would glance over at her every now and again to be polite. “Well the reason I ask is because chances are the elves will join the war, and times like these people forget what they want, they focus on other things.” He swayed a little as he bit his bottom lip. “So I began thinking of things I wanted to do, before things got ugly, that if I don’t make it out alive would I have regrets.” He turned to face her walking backward. He was being quite honest with her, something he normally wasn’t to people he was getting to know better. He sighed though as she talked, sure he did not fully understand it but he got some of it.
Aldruak smiled though at her with his offer of food and drink. “Alright then, when in town we will stop some where.” Aldruak was sure some where his mother was scolding him for not eating sooner then this, but he got caught up in things, least he was thinking now. “It will be fun, a little lighting up to the doom and gloom that will come.” He laughed a little passing it off as a joke.

( TO ME YOU'LL BE FOREVER SACRED ) { you hand above, like a dove, over me } Nina smiled slightly, looking up at him as they walked. It was a moment where it was just them- just them getting to know each other- not about the war, not about who is willing, or the latest threats that surely pushes the elves to war. Though she was sure that he wanted to stay out of it as long as possible- she wanted to go to war. And she wanted to get the elves ready now. She may have not any power, but it was her thoughts on it- and she was glad that some could take their differences, put it aside and just live a day as if it was a day, not a battlefield of competition, war, democracy, or poverty. They just spoke of what was on their mind, like the little things like what they wanted to do, or big things like fall in love, travel the world, or meet someone know. It was a rare moment- and though some people did have a chance to settle and just talk as if there wasn't a conflict outside their forest- Nina had yet to experience it. So here was she was, a feeling of peace actually washed over her, she wasn't on her guard so much, and she was freely able to speak what she wanted to him- the Prince. She wished she could just stop time just for this moment because of how rare it was, and she wasn't even sure when she could experience it again.
She nodded, seeing the truth in his words. 'That too,' she admitted. She was mostly alone, her parents mostly live in a more rural part of the forest somewhere, so she lived, ate, slept alone. It, in a way, made her feeling a little neglected, she believed that she first have to feel love in order to return it. It was like teaching a child to do something, if their parent's didn't show them first, how would they know what to do? It was basic, but Nina could understand why the Prince wanted to loved- her lived a damn near perfect life- he had all the love he could get, his family was on top of the food chain- people looked up to him, though Nina couldn't get used to people looking at her like they did to him- she admired his ability to be able to smile and continue on. Sometimes the attention was negative, some were positive, and she really would do anything for acceptance. It was a weakness, she hated failure, she hated the fact that some people didn't like her ideas. It was hard for her to let go and let it drop, knowing that some elves thought of her nothing more then a child.
'Regrets- I guess there are some things I would wish to do, at least when I stare down at the tunnel, I won't have to wish I've done it sooner before it was too late.. its only knowing what it is I really want from life,' she murmured wistfully. Okay, so there were some thing she wanted out of life, the tug of regret told her that, the small twist of her lips into a frown told her that, the feeling of a ship, just sinking told her that. But she didn't know what it was she really wanted. She just wasn't sure yet what she wanted from life, it was too soon, lately all that was on her mind was war, and it kept her focused. But as she let her thoughts wander, like him, she wanted to travel, she wanted to meet new people; but the idea or thought that one day it may be too late to do any of those eventually turned to the idea that if the war ended sooner, then she may get that chance.
Her lips twitched into a smile as she looked over at him. 'Yea- it would be great,' she agreed, blowing off the joke as if it was really funny and not what she was experiencing at the moment. She changed the subject quickly after that. 'Do you have someone in mind when it comes to love?' she asked him absently, one part curious, and two parts noisy.
