It was strange to think that a Werewolf would come from a place such as that, but Jade's life had never been what others would consider conventional. She sat huddled up beside her small fire, her knees pulled up to her chest. Pressing her lips to her knees, she watched as the flames licked steadily at the night air. In times like these, she found comfort in a destructive force. Comfort in something being so beautiful, yet so devastatingly deadly. It was a strange way of thinking, even for herself. Pushing her fingers through her long black hair, she found that a smile had crept onto her lips. "Shit, I sound like a Fairy with a tummy ache." She rolled her eyes at herself, and pulled her cloak tighter around herself. Such thoughts were not for her. In fact, she only found that she thought like this when she thought of her family; of her brother in particular.
Sniffing at the night air, she attempted to turn her mind away from such thoughts. There were more pressing matters at hand. Resting here was taking a rather large risk; there were Goblins about. There was no telling when they might creep up on her. Most people might have thought her insane for stopping for a rest in the abandoned dilapidated looking city, but this was quite normal behavior for Jade. Or, Jax as most people had come to know her as. If there was one thing that was noticeable, it was her insatiable need for battle; the need for a good fight. When she was bored, she'd often find herself in taverns, finding ways to get her hands dirty. The easiest explanation was that she was a Werewolf, but Jade knew that in all reality, that had little too nothing to do with the way that she was. She had long ago forgotten what it was like to be a true Werewolf; only in the dead of night on a full moon was she truly reminded. The truth was that she was angry; bitter. In fact, she was too angry and bitter. There were parts of her life that she wished to forget, but could never bring herself to. She was betrayed, and the betrayal was so deep that she could never bring herself to trust. That, in of itself, was enough to drive a person to madness.
The way that Jade saw it, she was fortunate that she just had an affinity toward sharp things that helped in the act of stabbing someone.
Turning her face up toward the sky, she made a face and shrugged. Well, such things were not to be thought about. Not when there might be arrows being flown at her head at any given moment. With that in mind, she reached into her pack and took out her favorite stolen item; the Sorcerer's flask. Unfortunately, she had to have the same damn alcohol every time she took a swig, but... What better to do on a lonely night when her mind wouldn't simply just let her be? Drink! Nothin' is better than that. At least, that's what she kept telling herself.
The alcohol was the only thing of late that seemed to keep the loneliness at bay... But if that was her concern, she probably shouldn't have camped out in the middle of Lost Province. Well, hindsight's twenty twenty...

I WANT TO SATISFY THE UNDISCLOSED- - - - - desires in your heart , Lost Province… what was are you doing here? The horse’s hooves beat into the ground, sending small stones dashing aside while causing smaller creatures to prick their ears up in warning. All the way to Kragspeak for the sake of old memories? The rider’s lips tightened and his fingers clenched the reins tighter. The chestnut mare’s breathing was heavy but the sound still did not manage to block out any of his grievous thoughts. His mind still lingered there in Feras where his mortal life had taken place. He did not even have to think hard to remember the scent of her skin and the way her shape looked in the trappings of her soft silken nightgowns. And he would surely never forget the words that she whispered to him so softly so that others around them would never hear. He would never forget the words he had spoken back. Love?
The snarls and flying arrows from goblins did little to bother the vampire. His bright blue eyes hardly even gave the creatures a second glace. He had no interest in such petty things. The only time he had was the night and he was not going to waste what time he had outdoors with bothering with them. They lost interest in a matter of moments anyway. The mare was going too fast for them to want to try and put effort into capturing a vampire. Besides, he would only cave their faces in anyways (or maybe that was the bitter rage talking). They did not care for one another any longer. The right hand to the vampire king was out of their range, his horse racing across the pathetic stretch of land known as Lost Province.
Suddenly there was a glimmer of light in his path; the light of a camp fire. Doben allowed his nose to wrinkle as he pulled the reins toward his chest to bring his horse to a brisk walk. The mare appreciated it, shaking her mane while keeping the fast moving walk going along. The pair trotted up along beside the fire though Doben had little interest in it. He was a vampire. The cold night air was just about as cold as his skin usually was unless he had just drank up the blood of a victim. The only thing that was remotely interesting about the fire was a.) his curiosity of who would be out in this God forsaken place and b.) whether or not they would make a suitable meal or not.
As he approached his eyes caught sight of a dark haired female. He frowned down at her, bringing his horse to a halt. A puff of cold air escaped the mare’s flared nostrils as she took this moment to gather some strength and rest her tired withers. He supposed the old girl deserved a rest after that hard ride. But he wasn’t sure if he would allow it now. The woman near the fire did not seem like someone he would want to trust completely. He raised a brow curiously now.
“Camping in Lost Province?” he questioned her with a cool, calmed voice. He held back his emotions as though it were his profession. “I suppose that means you are well off with handling yourself and those annoying beasts.” He motioned over his shoulder at the lurking goblins that really weren’t so sneaky.

- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - • • • • • i used to know the name of everyp e r s o n i k i s s e d- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - It seems as though if Jade was to have any kind of luck, it would be bad luck. The other night when she was camping in the tower, someone had come in after her... With, a misguided idea that she might need saving. Now, there was a vampire coming up to her campsite. Her nose wrinkled at his scent. Unlike other werewolves, she didn't find their scent disgusting. It just made her feel as though she needed to be wary and on the look out for herself. Although, that went without saying. Pushing her long slender fingers through dark hair, she kept her eyes focused on the fire, hoping that maybe, he might ride right past. However, as mentioned before, she knew that she had no luck. The idea of someone not stopping by and pestering her in a place like this, especially after making her camp, was a rather stupid idea. Ah well. She'd just have to deal with the leech for a bit. Just so long as he didn't get any funny ideas about how she was to be dinner, then they would be fine.
Pressing the flask to her lips, she looked up at the man as he approached. First she drank in his appearance, and then the chestnut mare that seemed as though she had been worked entirely too hard. Was he in a rush? Or was he trying to escape something? By his overly calm demeanor, she would say that he was emotionally compromised in one way or another. Those that tried to hide their emotions generally had quite a few that they were trying to keep under wraps. That did nothing to ease her interests. "What can I say, I must be suicidal." she said, a slight smirk curling at the corner of her lips. "Or I must be well versed in the art of killin' things. You decide." she said, taking another long pull from her flask. Looking back at the flames, she allowed herself to dip into silence for a bit. Despite the fact that she had spoken with someone the other night, she still felt as though her conversational skills were a bit... well, rusty.
"You might want to sit down before one of them goblins finally wises up and attaches a stake to their bow." she said, letting her green eyes move over the man. "Sometimes they have moments of brilliance. Especially when staring directly at a leech." The words were offensive, and by Jade's general demeanor, it was clear that there was truly no point in calling her out on it. The things that she said were intentional... A way of pushing his buttons as it were. "You're more than welcome to join me, just don't get any silly ideas about me being your breakfast." The way that Jade spoke made it seem as though she was prepared for whatever he had to throw at her. She was tucked under her cloak, making all weapons that she had on her person undetectable; just the way that she liked it. As much as Jade enjoyed the act of killing things, she wasn't exactly in the mood to start ripping this guy to shreds. In truth? She was tired. Exhausted from traveling, and even more exhausted from her own paranoia.
After another moment of silence, Jade shrugged out of her cloak a bit, exposing a black leather bodice and a white, tight sleeved shirt beneath. The shirt looked like it had been worn quite a few times, the edges were severely frayed. "What brings you to these parts anyway?" she asked, her tone dropping from the relatively hostile tone that she had been using earlier. Blinking a few times, she let her jade eyes move over toward Doben once again. A small smirk came to her lips as she managed to lock eyes with him. "Blue eyes on a blood sucker. The Gods are cruel." she chuckled. Despite the fact that she kept calling him by offensive names, it was relatively clear that she didn't really mind his kind. In fact, Jade truly wasn't a racist, until it came to her own people. In a business, such as the one that she was in, it was never a good idea to single out a species, just because of her own bias. It showed through in the way that she spoke. If anything, it was simply a dry poke in attempts to get a rise out of him; once again, Jade proved to be quite adept at pushing buttons.

I WANT TO RECONCILE THE VIOLENCE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -IN YOUR HEART. I WANT TO RECOGNISE YOUR BEAUTY'S NOT JUST A MASK. I WANT TO EXORCISE THE DEMONS FROM YOUR PAST. I WANT TO SATISFY THE UNDISCLOSED- - - - - desires in your heart , The alcohol on her tongue made its presence clear as he sucked in cold air through his nostrils. Even in the light of the fire his skin held its cold, dead coloring. But, unlike his skin, his eyes danced with hues of bright blue- clear as day, against the fire light. Doben went ahead and dropped down from the saddle of his horse now, his boots landing in the dirt with a light thud along with the quiet clashing of metal clasps on his clothes.
He doubted her first suggestion and found himself suddenly very sure that she would prove to be a professional in the art of slaying creatures of all kinds. Despite the liquor that she was consuming he had faith in that choice of answer. Doben kept it to himself though; already sure that she knew the answer to that anyways. He enjoyed the few moments of silence, basking in it comfortably with little acknowledgement toward the female. He took up his horses reins and pulled her along with him to the other side of the fire. From there he un-cinched the saddle, giving her some breathing room around her abdomen now. He didn’t lift the saddle off of her back though as a precaution. Just because he was acting so nonchalant around the lady did not mean he trusted her, after all. If he needed to climb atop his horse in a flash then he wanted to be able to do it.
His eyes drifted toward her casually, inwardly smirking at the comment she had made toward the goblins. He could vouch on that. By now he was far old enough to have seen these flashes of brilliance overcome the creatures from time to time. But never had they left him too impressed or unsure what to do with himself. They were still simpleminded- easy to get rid of for most that were practiced in some kind of combat.
The vampire stepped away from his steed now and took a seat at the opposite side of the fire. At first he cast his eyes away searching for signs of anything that he wouldn’t care for too much. The blue stare stayed narrowed for quite some time, Doben’s ears finding only the breathing of his horse and the crackle of the firewood. Once he was satisfied with looking around him he looked back toward her with the same searching stare. Though after a moment it seemed to draw away again and his face gave the impression of indifference.
He could smell it in the air now: werewolf. It was sitting right in front of him, allowing him to share a fire with it. Her… it…her…
Vampires and werewolves; there were two species that simply could not find themselves on the same track as one another. What a headache to come into. Now the matter at hand was whether he could trust the one sitting before him. There were no signs of a pack and he knew that she knew what he was. She had a sensitive nose. She would figure it out if she had not already. He was completely sure of that. Yet she had let him sit. She was a strange werewolf then. Not many would ever let a vampire near lest they planned on disfiguring him or her greatly or planned on setting them ablaze in the sunlight.
Sunlight… a bitter memory.
Doben did not answer for a few moments. He simply stared, as though he were still trying to decide whether or not he was completely comfortable with this now. But eventually he let his lips move and his mouth produce words for her. “Personal matters to attend,” he replied dryly. His brows rose at her comment, it made him want to look away but he held the stare with ease. “Indeed. Now, if I may ask, what is it that you are doing out in this-" his eyes motioned toward the wasteland, “place.”

It wasn't often that people stumbled across her while she was in camp; let alone a vampire, in the middle of a place like this. Something wreaked, and it wasn't just the Vampire that stood before her. It was the situation. Her demeanor was calm and composed, as though she wouldn't have even allowed the thought of this man being a danger to herself come to her mind. Her hand moved down to her boot as though she was rubbing her calf. Her fingers grazed over the hilt of her dagger, almost as a form of comfort. Now that her cloak was removed, it was clear as day that she was armed to the teeth and wasn't about to take any chances. If this man was stupid enough to attack her after seeing such blades upon her person... Well, she would be doing him a favor by taking him out. No, not just him, but the world. There were enough dumb leeches walking around. The last thing that they needed was another.
As he approached, leading his mare toward safety, she kept her eyes locked on the flickering frame. She appeared to be deep in thought, speaking to him without looking at him. However, when he decided to respond to her, her eyes snapped back to him. A small smirk came to her lips as she noticed that he had ignored her statement about his eyes. Oh, this evening was going to be a great deal of fun. While Jade hadn't the faintest idea as to why their kinds loathed each other, she knew that it was all but genetic. She was raised to hate him simply for what he was. He was probably born into the blood with a bitter taste in his mouth toward her kind as well. That didn't matter to her. If he chose to sit and break bread with the enemy that was his business. She wouldn't tell a soul; not that there was a soul to tell. Unless, of course, he was intending on having her for breakfast... Her heart started to flutter a bit with excitement. Perhaps, tonight would be more eventful after all!
"Personal matters." she smirked, mimicking his dry tone. If he didn't want to get into what he was doing here in Lost Province, she wouldn't either. Removing her finger tips from the hilt of her blade, she grabbed a stick and started to poke at the fire. "As I'm sure you can tell, Vampire, I am more than prepared to defend myself if I need to." she said, her eyes locked on the flames that were quickly growing in size due to her prodding. "I have made camp for eve, and have no intention of mussing up anything that I've done just because your kind has a vendetta against mine. You can choose to rest here with me, and have amicable conversation. Or..." she said, pulling the stick from the flame, blowing out the end that had begun to burn. Placing the stick down beside her, she gave him another shit eating grin paired with a quirk of the eyebrow. "You can watch as I fashion myself a pair of nice stakes. It's ultimately up to you. Companionship is just as needed as a good fight every now and again."
She pursed her lips and took another long drink of her flask. She was certain that she was coming across as a bit crazy. To her? That was a good thing. It was better to have the enemy believe you to be less of a danger than you actually were. At least, that's the way that she was trained. Threatening someone rarely got her anywhere than a less than satisfying brawl. If she was going to take out a leech tonight, she would want it to be more than just a few fists thrown, hissing, sweating and grunting.
"But, if you're choosing to rest here as a friend, if only in namesake, may I ask what you call yourself? Or is that... None of my business?" she asked, offering him the flask. She didn't know how Vampires worked. Could they drink? Could they eat? She hadn't really spent too much time with her blood enemies, outside of either slaying them, or being told her next target. If she wasn't going to get a fight, she could at least pick his brain about his people.
