The sunrise was as beautiful as ever as Pandora leaned against the side of her balcony, blue eyes locked on the colorful sky in the distance. Sleep did not come well to her ever since Panthea ran off and swore that she would have the throne one day. It was troubling to know that her own flesh and blood could despise her so much. It was truly painful and heartbreaking for the young Queen. At only 17 years of age she had been given the throne as her mother passed away, leaving the young woman to care for an entire country by herself. A sigh left her lips as she backed away from the balcony, her blue eyes still overlooking the sunrise and her beautiful white city. It was hard to imagine darkness sweeping over her realm, as it had always been a place of such beauty and elegance. Frowning at the thought of Thea ever taking over the throne, Pandora glided back into her room and shut the doors of her balcony behind her. Her handmaiden, Adalia, had just finished tidying up the room as she always did, and Pandora sent the girl off to go have her breakfast. Pandora's still sat on the tray on her dresser, untouched and getting cold. She had no appetite on the beautiful morning, though she did have a few sips at the fresh milk that had been brought to her.
Striding to her dresser, she gazed at her reflection for a moment. Her restlessness was obvious on her face, her eyes beginning to develop dark circles under them from nights of little to no sleep. But she would not allow her stress to keep her from doing her duties as Queen. The people did not deserve to be punished for her own worries. Backing away from her dresser, she stepped out of her room. Fresh air was needed and she knew the perfect place to let her mind wonder. Moving elegantly down the nearly empty halls, she made her way down to the Entrance Hall, greeting a few of her hard working servants as she passed. Unlike Thea, Dora's slaves were treated with kindness and love. They did get punished when they stepped out of line, but most respected their job and the Queen enough to do what they were told and do it well. Slipping out of the castle, Dora smiled softly as she began her trek across the dewy grass. She could feel the eyes of the guards watching her closely, making sure that no harm would come to the Queen that they served so well. The petite blonde made a beeline to the small pond at the side of the castle, lifting the bottom of her flowing dress to make sure that it didn't drag along the ground. She could always count on her pond to help her relax and take some time to try and get her mind sorted. Reaching the small pond, she bent down and took a seat on the edge, slipping her shoes off in the process. Letting her feet danging in the cool water, she took in a deep breath and closed her eyes, trying hard to let all her worries escape. All she wanted was to protect her people and serve them well. Was that really too much to ask?

Early that morning Aleris awoke in his bed in the White Castle, the home of the Queen of Light. The Sorcerers good queen, it was another busy day in the life of this young man. He had lots of work to do. He never knew what it would mean the next day as he was actively trying to work against the dark queen and doing that in the way of forming strong alliances with other creatures of light. Though that was not on his mind at the moment.
The thing that was on his mind was Pandora, the Queen of Light and his Fiance. He was engaged to be married to the young queen and he knew of the stress that was pulled on the eighteen year old queen as she worked and ran the country all by herself. She did not have help at the moment as she was unmarried. She had an advisor but she had to do all the hard work all by herself. Though Aleris did try and help her out in other ways when he could.
That morning the mans servant brought in his breakfast he had it on a plater on the balcony as he watched the sun rise above the plains. He loved the view. As he nibbled slowly on the food the mans servant made the bed and picked up the book that Aleris had been reading the night before and placed it on the shelf. Putting everything back in its place. He did not worry about that though, the moment that he finished though he knew that there was something he was needing to do.
He left the room and began to walk throughout the castle and soon arrived back at the Queens chambers and only found her maid present working away. He asked here where the queen was and pointed him in the direction to find her.
He walked down the halls again to get outside to the pond where he knew she was. The servants just ignored him. He technically did not matter much in the kingdom yet. Though the servants were not stupid enough to not take orders when he told them to do something for he was the future king, but he was not their yet so technically did not have much say yet. So he was an in between being at the moment.
He soon stepped down out of the castle and walked toward the pond. The sunlight sparkled off the dew in the grass and he saw her, smiled and approached her.
He sat down beside her at the waters edge, Did not sleep well again love, why don't you tell me what is bothering you.

In the few moments she had of peace at her little pond, all the Queen could think about was the war that was raging between the Dark and the Light. She had never wished it to happen, never wished for Panthea to feel so bitter and so hateful over the fact that she did not get the crown. But Dora understood the choice made by their mother. Panthea had always been a misbehaving and rebellious child, always quite the bully and showed at an early age that she wasn't quite all there in the head. Something was wrong with her sister, and it was upsetting to the young Queen. They had played together as children every day, like sisters do. There were rare times where Thea was nice to her, but most of the time their playing involved Thea pushing her around and being a complete bully. Still, Dora loved her and knew she always would, no matter what horrible things her older sister had done. Feeling the tears collecting in her eyes, Dora lowered her head with a soft sniffle, blinking the tears away. One managed to escape though she quickly wiped it away with one of her delicate hands.
But hearing footsteps coming near, she turned her head quickly to see her beloved fiance making his way over to her. She felt the butterflies in her stomach at the sight of him and she was quite grateful that he had been up in the early hours to keep her company. Ever since she was old enough to know what love was, she had loved Aleris. Though she had been promised to him when she was only a few hours old, her love for him was real, not something forced and fake. As he sat down next to her in the grass, she immediately leaned in to sneak a quick kiss on his cheek like she had done often as a child. "It's Thea," she replied softly to his question, folding her hands delicately in her lap. "I just wish...that all this wasn't happening," she finished, her voice trailing off as her bottom lip quivered a bit. She had the awful feeling that in the end, one of them would have to die. And with Thea dipping her fingers into the blackest of magic, the gut feeling was telling Dora that she would be the one to fall and that darkness would take over all the lands.
The tears began to form again, though she did not enjoy having Aleris seeing her cry. In an attempt to keep her emotions under control, she tilted her head down and wiped at her eyes. "I have to protect my people. I can't fail them." She added softly, her voice cracking a bit as she lifted her head to lay it gently on Aleris' firm shoulder.

As soon as he sat down on the grass next to his love she leaned in and quickly kissed him on the cheek. He smiled at her, she had always done that since he was a little boy. He had been engaged to marry this girl since he was about six, shortly after she was born. His family was a very powerful family of sorcerers and pretty influential in the kingdom. They made the agreement when the child was born.
She said that it was Thea, he was not surprised about that really. He knew that this was bothering her. Her subjects might not be able to tell this from the way she was acting but he could. He had been around for just about her entire life and could tell something was up.
She then said that she wished that this was not happening, he reached up with a hand and with care pushed the hair out of her face. My love, I know but it is so we must make the best of it.
She then started to tear up as she said that she needed to protect her people. She leaned her head down on his shoulder and his body just naturally molded to fit her comfortably in the crevice in his shoulder. He kissed her lightly on the forehead.
My Queen, you will not fail them, you are the greatest queens this land has ever had and you have one thing every other queen has not had, my help, together we can do this.

As she lay her head on his shoulder, Dora couldn't help but to nuzzle into it. It was so comforting to have him around, especially on mornings like this where she just had a hard time finding her happy place. Feeling his lips touch her forehead, her icy eyes fluttered shut and a soft smile twitched at the corners of her mouth. "The greatest? You're just saying that so you get more kisses," she replied softly with a brief little laugh, once again nuzzling deep into his warm shoulder. She was a confident woman but there was a point, especially when dealing with being Queen, that she felt a little less comfortable. But her mother felt that she was more fit to rule than her sister and she had to keep reminding herself of that. She was chosen to be Queen and she would do her best to make her mother's spirit proud. Aleris was right though. She knew she could always count on him to help her out if she had any troubles with making a decision for her country, whether it be how many men to send out to fight Panthea's army, or where to hold a social event in town. "I'm glad I have you," she replied quietly, lifting her head slightly to look up at him. Without hesitation, she placed a quick, gentle kiss on his lips before resting her head back down on his shoulder.
Absentmindedly, she wiggled her toes a bit in the cool water of the pond, holding in giggles as a few of the tiny harmless fish nibbled at them. "Remember when we would swim in here?" She questioned softly, a smile once again gracing her face as the memories flooded back. The childhood memories were always a wonderful thing to look back on, especially the ones that she recalled with her future King. "And you would be the Knight and I the Damsel in distress?" She trailed off, a slightly dreamy look coming over her face as she moved one of her hands to lightly brush over his own. The feeling of complete comfort swept over her again and for that moment, all thoughts of Panthea and the Darkness were quickly swept away into oblivion.

"The greatest? You're just saying that so you get more kisses,"
He gave her a bit of a hurt, surprised look upon his face at the moment. One that seemed to convey his surprise at her words and what she was meaning at the moment. He looked at her and had to speak.
My sweet, need I flatter you to earn your love, for if I do then I have gone about this all the wrong way and need to change my tactics.
He smiled at her and then kissed her again, full of passion and love, he wanted much more than stealing a few kisses by the pond like he had been doing for years now, he wanted her in her full magnificence that she was but he had to wait, she was making him wait till the eve of their wedding but on times like this when they were alone the desire just took over but he fought it with every fiber of his being to respect her wish.
"I'm glad I have you,"
He smiled at her even bigger at the moment. He loved it when she said that, not as much as he loved it when she told him that she loved him or needed him. He just loved the feeling when she said that but this was good enough for him to feel needed by one of the most amazing women in the world.
And I you my amor.
She then took them on a small trip down memory lane about how she and he had pretended and played by this pond when he was a little boy. He remembered it well, he was older than her and even had clearer memories than she did.
Yes I do remember and we are still playing the roles for you will always be my damsel in distress. I will always be here to save you.

Pandora’s lips twitched slightly at the corners of her mouth, not even bothering to hide her amusement with his words. Change his tactics? That was certainly not needed. Though they she had been betrothed to him since she was just a baby, there was no doubt in her mind (or her heart) that what they had was real. It wasn’t forced. It wasn’t fake. It was love at its finest and there would be certainly no need for him to try and change up his game. ”You flatter me enough as it is,” she replied quietly, closing her eyes as the words fell from her lips and his own grazed against hers. The passionate kiss caused her eyes to flutter shut and her hand to close gently around his while letting herself be completely engulfed in the tender moment. He was not alone in his occasional wishes to have more. Even Pandora thought about it frequently and had to keep reminding herself that she wanted to wait. But it was hard to hold back her emotions when all she wanted to do was make him feel like he had never felt before and be lost in passion with him. That was a wife’s job anyway, wasn’t it? Making sure that their husband was satisfied in every way? Pulling back from the kiss, she nuzzled ever so lightly against his cheek and placed a few tender and soft kisses along his jaw line. The urge to drench him in more of her loving kisses was a hard one to fight back, but she did.
”And I you my amor,”
She couldn’t help but to smile at the words, her cheeks flushing just slightly. If anyone could set her cheeks on fire, it was Aleris. While other boys use to do that to her, it was Aleris that made her heart beat out of her chest and her face melt off, all because she knew his words were true. Almost childlike, she curled her petite body up against him, her head once again finding its way to a comfortable position on his shoulder while her toes skimmed the top of the water. While some girls may have been turned off by being the damsel in distress, Pandora was not. She always put up a strong face, always acted as if nothing in the world could hurt her. In a way, it would have been nice to have someone else take care of her, someone else do all the hard work. ”Perhaps one day I’ll save you,” she replied softly, a coy little smirk on her face. It amused her but at times, it terrified her to think that he was such a large target. If Panthea wanted to really get to Pandora and cut her down, it would be by harming Aleris. And if she lost him, how could she possibly keep going how she was now? There would no longer be a strong Queen. No longer be the Pandora that everyone knew. Aleris was key to her happiness. Without him, she would be lost.
