Marhana Rella Wyrmeye is a twenty-one year old woman currently living in a small home on the outskirts of Feras. Living with her is her three year old daughter, Eilhana, and her lover, Xaneak. She grew up in a middle class home and is the daughter of a merchant and a seamstress. Her relationship with Xaneak started when she was fifteen years old, having met him after he saved her from a brutal attack at the hands of a few men that caught her alone at a creek. Her parents were absolutely horrified when they found out their dear daughter was sneaking around with a poor, ex military man. Furious with her family's behavior toward Xaneak, Marhana left her home and began living with Xaneak, despite her parents begging for her to stay. Horrid rumors spread around town about Marhana, ones that made her out to be a complete harlot that was sleeping with every man that came along. It was absolute crap, but she could do nothing about the awful words being whispered about her.
Not long after moving in with her boyfriend, Marhana found out about what his job really was. It terrified her to know that her heart and body belonged to a murdered, yet she could not bring herself to leave him. Her love for him was strong enough to allow her to brush off the fact that he killed people for a living. He did think about quitting, but the money that came in was better than anything else he could do and he had another person to support. When Marhana was eighteen, she became pregnant with her their first child, a baby girl that they named Eilhana. Xaneak was unsure about having a child but as soon as she was born, he fully embraced being a father.
Three years later, Marhana is usually stuck at home taking care of Eilhana while Xaneak is frequently off doing business, in other words slicing people up for coin. The last few weeks, Marhana has fallen ill. She's not bedridden but she gets weaker and weaker with each passing day and the healers that she's seen can't seem to get her back to full health. While doing his job and being a father, Xaneak is also set on finding a cure for whatever it is that Marhana has been ill with.
